I am trying to get off caffeine - oh dear!

I have a problem. I love coffee. I love STRONG coffee. Every morning first thing I plunge a very strong coffee and because of this, the world seems nicer. However, I have been reading that you cannot have caffeine after the surgery so I have decided that it would be a good idea to kick the habit now. I have experienced extreme tiredness and headaches. I want my caffeine! I'll be ok - I just have to keep thinking - 'I will be thin, I will be thin' - I better be thin after this painful day! Ok - rant over.

  1. I'm down to one cup, somedays even half...then other days two cups...sigh. It's a hard one to kick! I too have heard this and am also trying to get off so much caffeine. Good luck and hang in there!

  2. I am afraid I am going to have to know the reason for this rule before I can make this change. Does anyone know why we can't have it? I haven't asked yet, but before I will be able to successfully make this HUGE change, I will have to know.

  5. New follower here! LBG sent me over. I didn't have to give up caffeine, but since the only caffeine I had was in my Mt. Dew, I gave it up...but I waited until midnight the night before surgery to give it up :)

  6. Hiya Stephanie, LBG sent me over and looking forward to reading your blog! I certainly did't give up caffeine, I am not sure I would survive if I did! This wasn't in my rules, thank gawd.

  7. Hmmm...I knew I had to give up carbonated sodas (so I gave up my Diet Pepsi/cold turkey a couple of months before my surgery.) I still drink tea. I would check with your dr. on caffeine in general.

I'm looking forward to following your journey!

  8. Hi, strange about your caffeine thing... I was offered coffee in the hospital after my surgery. No mention of giving it up. Did they tell you why?

  9. Another new follower for you :o)

I think I remember (its been a while) that I needed to reduce the caffeine intake during the liquid diet phase, but I never was advised to cancel it altogether.

No soda, softdrink was definiately on the list though. Good luck and I look forward to reading your journey!!
